Noah. Genesis 6—9. Noah loves and obeys God. God uses Noah to build the ark, and Noah’s family, along with many animals, take refuge in the ark to survive the worldwide flood.

Abram. Genesis 12; 15—16. God makes a covenant with Abraham. God promises Abraham that he will be the father of many nations and that his descendants will be so numerous that trying to count them would be like trying to count the stars!

Share these facts to get the conversation started:
When God called Abraham to follow Him, Abraham followed—despite the fact that he didn’t know where he was going.
It was 25 years after God’s first promise to Abraham that He fulfilled the covenant.
Sarah was 90 years old when she gave birth to their first son, Isaac.
God promised to bless all people on earth through Abraham. This promise was ultimately fulfilled when Christ came to earth as a descendant of Abraham.
Connect as a family
Take your children outside at night. Encourage them to look up at the stars and ask them how many stars they think there are. Tell your kids that the number of stars in the universe are too many to be counted—there are millions and millions and millions of them! Read Genesis 15. As you read, pause at Genesis 15v5 and tell them Abraham was looking up at the same sky and the same stars when God made this promise to him.
After reading the Scripture passage, discuss these questions together:
What was God’s promise to Abraham?
Do you think it was hard for Abraham to believe God’s promise?
Whom did God say would be one of Abraham’s descendants?
These questions can easily extend into the rest of the week. Look for opportunities to bring conversations about how God is a covenant keeper into your everyday life as a family.
Blessing
Blessings are often used in the Bible. A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words to encourage and guide.
A blessing to pray over your child: (Child’s name), may you know that God loves you and always keeps His promises. May you remember that God always watches over you.
