The Parent Weekly for November 24th, Feast of Unleavened Bread: Remembering and Celebrating God as Redeemer
The Parent Weekly is designed for you to use during the week with your son or daughter. You’ll find out what they learned today at church and can help them prepare for next week by exploring the theme (or Big Idea) and spending time together in God’s Word.

Where we’re headed next time
Big Idea: God Claims His People
Mosaic Covenant. Exodus 19—21; 24. God gives the Israelites the Ten Commandments.
Did you know?
Share these facts to get the conversation started:
By giving the Law, God formally invited the Israelites into His covenant with them.
Through this covenant, God showed His people how to live.
Eventually the Mosaic covenant and laws would be replaced with the new covenant through Jesus.
God gives us the opportunity to be a part of His family by choosing to follow Him.
Connect as a family
Gather some items that will make a lot of noise. Grab pots and pans for your kids to bang on or find some instrumental music to play loudly. Explain to your kids that there was a lot of noise and commotion as Moses brought the people to meet with God. Encourage your kids to imagine what it must have been like, and invite them to bang on the pots and pans. Then read Exodus 19v1–7, 14–19.
After reading the Scripture passage, discuss these questions together:
What did God tell the Israelites to do?
What do you think God meant when He said His people would be His “treasured possession”?
Why does God want us to live differently from other people?
These questions can easily extend into the rest of the week. Look for opportunities to bring conversations about how God claims His people into your everyday life as a family.
Blessing
Blessings are often used in the Bible. A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words to encourage and guide.
A blessing to pray over your child: (Child’s name), may you know that God claims you as His own. May He guide you in a life that is joyfully set apart for Him.
