The Parent Weekly for June 18th, God's power changes everything

What we learned today

Big Idea: God's power changes everything

Healing of the Beggar. Acts 3v1–10. Peter healed a beggar through the Holy Spirit's power.

Where we're headed next time

Big Idea: God's son changes everything

Paul's Conversion. Acts 9v1–31. Jesus spoke to Saul on the road to Damascus.

Did you know?

Share these facts to get the conversation started:

  • Before his conversion, Paul was a Pharisee, a scholar of the Jewish Law, and the leader of the persecution of the church.

  • Once Jesus came to Paul, Paul knew that Jesus was God.

  • Once Paul was filled with the Spirit, he dedicated the rest of his days to proclaiming that Jesus is the Son of God.

Connect as a family

Take a short walk with your children. After your walk, find a quiet spot and read the biblical account of Paul’s conversion in Acts 9v1–18. When you finish reading, ask your children what they think Paul might have felt like when he suddenly heard from God and found himself blind. Ask them if they feel like they’ve ever heard from God. (Remind them that it’s okay if they haven’t heard from Him.)

After reading the Scripture passage, discuss these questions together:

  • How do you think Saul might have felt while he was speaking with Jesus on the road?

  • Why do you think God sent Ananias to pray for Saul?

  • How has Jesus changed your life?

These questions can easily extend into the rest of the week. Look for opportunities to bring conversations about how God's Son Changes Everything into your everyday life as a family.

Blessing

Blessings are often used in the Bible. A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words to encourage and guide.

A blessing to pray over your child: (Child’s name), may you be transformed by knowing Jesus came to earth, died, and rose again for you.
