The Parent Weekly for July 3rd (God is with me, part 1)

What we learned today

Big Idea: God takes care of me (part 2)

1 Kings 17v1–6. Elijah obeyed God’s words. Everything happened just as God had said. The ravens brought Elijah bread and meat to eat and he drank from the brook. God took care of Elijah.

Where we’re headed next time

Big Idea: God is with me (part 1)

1 Kings 19v9–18. God called to Elijah in a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard this, he went out to meet with the Lord.

Dig into God’s Word

  • Read 1 Kings 19v11–13a. After reading, remind your child that just as God was with Elijah in the cave, God is with us.

Connect as a family

Your child is capable of imitating sounds. Use your
voice inflection to create a verbal picture of the wind,
fire, earthquake, and the whisper of God. Encourage
your child to repeat the sounds you make.

  • When is God with us?

  • God is always with us!

Blessing

Blessings are often used in the Bible. A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words to encourage and guide.

Read Psalm 46v1 “God is our refuge and strength, an
ever-present help in trouble.”
