The Parent Weekly for December 18th, Jesus is born (part 2)

What we learned today

Big Idea: Jesus is born (part 2)

Luke 2v8–20 While the shepherds were watching their sheep at night, the sky lit up and an angel of the Lord appeared to them. The shepherds were terrified. The angel told them not to be afraid for he had come with good news. The Savior had been born. The Promise they had been waiting for had finally come! Where we’re headed next time

Big Idea: Jesus chooses us to follow Him (part 1)

Luke 5v1–11. Jesus chose 12 apostles and prepared them to go and tell others about Him. Today He calls each of us to follow Him as well.

Dig into God’s Word

  • Read Mark 1v16–18. Remind your child that fishing for people simply means going and telling others about Jesus.

Connect as a family

Your child loves to imitate and understands simple directions. Play a creative game of Follow the Leader. Be sure and start it out.

  • What did Jesus say to the fishermen?

  • How did they respond?

Blessing

Blessings are often used in the Bible. A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words to encourage and guide.

Open a Bible and read Colossians 2v6: “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him.”
