The Parent Weekly

We believe parents are the primary teachers in a child's life. Because of this, we post a Parent Weekly each Sunday which includes big ideas from that week’s teaching, the memory verse, questions for family discussion, and a look at where we’re headed the following week. Our hope is for this to be a helpful tool as you continue raising your kids to love God and love people.

Year 1, Spring: Lesson 5

What we learned today

Big Idea: Jesus is alive. (part 1)

John 19—20 God had a plan to send a Savior. When the time was right, God sent His only Son, Jesus, who came to earth and died on a cross for our sins. After three days, He rose from the grave. Jesus is alive!

Where we're headed next time

Big Idea: Jesus is alive. (part 2)

John 19—20 God had a plan to send a Savior. When the time was right, God sent His only Son, Jesus, who came to earth and died on a cross for our sins. After three days, He rose from the grave. Jesus is alive!

Did you know?

  • Over 500 people saw Jesus alive between the time of His resurrection and His ascension into heaven.

  • Some believe that the “stone” sealing Jesus’ tomb could have weighed more than a thousand pounds!

Connect as a family

Your child can understand simple comparisons. Play “full or empty” using a box with a lid and some familiar household objects to help your child begin to understand the empty tomb.

  • Why wasn’t Jesus in the tomb?  Because He is alive!

Blessing

Blessings are often used in the Bible. A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words to encourage and guide.

(Insert your child’s name), Jesus is alive! May you know His great love for you today and always.
