The Parent Weekly

The Parent Weekly

We believe parents are the primary teachers in a child's life. Because of this, we post a Parent Weekly each Sunday which includes big ideas from that week’s teaching, the memory verse, questions for family discussion, and a look at where we’re headed the following week. Our hope is for this to be a helpful tool as you continue raising your kids to love God and love people.

Year 1, Spring: Lesson 11

What we learned today

Big Idea: God listens to our prayers (part 1)

Acts 12v1–19 King Herod imprisoned Peter, putting him under heavy guard while he awaited his trial. Peter’s friends gathered to pray for him. God heard their prayers and sent an angel to free Peter from prison.

Where we're headed next time

Big Idea: God listens to our prayers (part 2)

Acts 12v1–19 King Herod imprisoned Peter, putting him under heavy guard while he awaited his trial. Peter’s friends gathered to pray for him. God heard their prayers and sent an angel to free Peter from prison.

Did you know?

  • The Sea of Galilee sits 686 feet below sea level, and it’s not uncommon for violent storms to arise producing waves over seven feet high!

  • Jesus slept soundly during the storm while His disciples were fearing for their lives.

Connect as a family

Your child can learn about prayer and may enjoy folding her hands or kneeling to pray.

  • Remind your child that prayer is simply talking to God.

Blessing

Blessings are often used in the Bible. A blessing can be a prayer of commission, a portion of Scripture, or words to encourage and guide.

(Insert your child’s name), may you remember that no matter how hard something is, God can do anything, and He always listens to your prayers.
